OZA was incorporated in 2016 as a 501(c) public charity organization in the State of Georgia, USA. The organization has since become one of the largest Zambian diaspora initiatives with a membership presence in almost all the 50 states of the United States and across the globe.

Since 2016, OZA has carried out activities, programs, and events that support the aspirations of the Zambian community American and abroad. Particularly, OZA has raised funds to help support the repatriation of fallen Zambians back home, held fundraising activities to support the shipment of health equipment, and supported orphanages. Other activities include advocacy work that resulted in the enshrining of the duo citizenship in the Zambian constitution, good governance, and sustainable development.
